Blog Post #12

Dance with Wolves is an interesting film on the civil war and relationships between white people and indians. In the beginning of the film the main character Lt. John Dunbar learns that his leg has to be amputated. After he sees the other amputated legs he freaks out and tries to commit suicide by running into the front lines of the battle between the union and the confederates. He runs up and down the front lines like 6 times and instead of getting shot he actually rallies his troops and they attack the distracted confederates and win the battle. His commanding officer names him hero and give him his horse and let him pick a post to stay at.
The Lieutenant was excited to see the western front and when he gets there and sets up camp he encounters the indians and tries to talk to them. He eventually becomes friends with them and they talk of hunting buffalo. After talking to Kicking Bird, John goes with the tribe to their camp and talks to a white woman who talks about her past and how she was captured by the indians. They eventually find buffalo and try to hunt them.
